Gaming Laboratories International receive first accreditation from accreditation from superintendent of Casinos of Chile

(January 21, 2010) – Gaming Laboratories International has become the world’s first gaming testing lab to receive accreditation from the Superintendent of Casinos of Chile. The accreditation is the culmination of a year-long process and allows GLI to test and certify electronic gaming devices and technology for the Chilean marketplace.

GLI Development Manager for Latin America Karen Sierra-Hughes said, “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this accreditation. This is an important milestone for GLI and for Chile. GLI has been very active in supporting regulators in Chile and throughout Latin America for years, and we are very pleased with the progress being made across the region.”

In 2005, Chilean lawmakers passed Law 19.995, which established the process for granting gaming licenses to up to a maximum of 24 casinos in the country. The law also established the homologation, or testing, process, and GLI is the first testing lab to receive accreditation under the law.

In addition to Chile, GLI is active in the region and tests for regulators in Argentina, Panama and Peru. The company is also participating in the process for establishing the standards for Chile, and is working with the jurisdictions of Colombia and Mexico to develop technical standards in line with international practices to help regulators meet their objectives.
