Atronic:South African Casinos enter the STARGATE™
by ATRONIC International GmbH
Luebbecke / Germany / 2010-02-16 (GlobalGamingPR) - JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (February 15, 2010) – ATRONIC and Atomic Gaming, ATRONIC´s distributor for Africa, are pleased to announce the installation of STARGATE SG-1™ in numerous casinos across South Africa.
Following the footsteps of casinos throughout Europe and Latin America, South African players can now enjoy a new dimension of linked gaming with ATRONIC´s multi-bonus progressive link STARGATE SG-1™.
Based on the popular movie and TV show, STARGATE SG-1 is the video slot version with five distinct bonuses that summon recognizable features from the STARGATE SG-1 series, like the Stargate Chevrons and Dial-Home Device. The player must bet max lines and side bet to trigger a bonus. Once triggered, one of the five bonuses is randomly selected. The excitement builds as the Stargate appears, seemingly ready to pick up players for a trip to explore the galaxy. The chevrons start illuminating and continue to glow as the player selects a bonus.
December saw STARGATE SG-1 banks rolled out into a number of South African casinos, where they proved an immediate success. The first bank was installed on The Wild Coast Sun’s new refurbished gaming floor on ATRONIC’s e²SLANT™ cabinet.
Shortly thereafter, Carnival City installed a bank of STARGATE SG-1 boasting a magnificent sign complete with a 54” HD LCD screen.
“The bank looks amazing, and customers love it,” commented Piet Swanepoel from Carnival City.
The next property to introduce STARGATE SG-1 was the Golden Horse Casino in Pietermaritzburg. Players of Maritzburg have taken to STARGATE SG-1 on the e²™ machines like ducks to water, and the bank has been extremely busy since opening.
“Our players love the interactive bonuses that come up frequently and are always different, creating a sense of expectation,” stated Phil Hockaday, Golden Horse’s slots manager.
The Atomic Gaming technical team outshone themselves by installing STARGATE SG-1 into Emperor’s Palace, Sibaya and Boardwalk Casino all on the same day. Like a shotgun start at a golf tournament, Susan Ranamane and the Emperor’s technicians installed the e² machines into a smoking area, while Donovan Govender and Sibaya’s “We can do IT!” team dived into installing the e²SLANT machines onto Sibaya’s main floor. Meanwhile, Andrew Stewart, together with Billy Jukes’s team from Boardwalk, tackled the e²SLANT machines in Port Elizabeth. Haldane Holm, Technical Manager at Sibaya, only had praise for Donovan: “Donovan was really great, a huge help and went beyond what we expected of him. Thanks!!”
Gerhard Reiter, ATRONIC International’s Product Manager responsible for Africa, said, “We have been monitoring the performance of STARGATE SG-1 since the machines went onto the floors in South Africa, and in some cases the performance is double the area average, which is also what we are seeing in Europe.”
